The participants in the current scientific session had to express their views on the complex research topic “The Meaning of Life”, (defined, we recall, by A. Camus “as the main question of philosophy”, and by Erich Fromm, rightly reduced to the main human aspiration/dilemma : “To have or to be?!”
In his reply to Academician Dr. Ivanka Deneva – for the written opinion she sent on the subject, Academician Prof. Lambadzhiev, as he wrote, “thanked her for the original, emotional and morally uplifting message for the seminar”. The event in Sofia begins with a reading of the author’s written material and a discussion of the main ideas in it, evaluated as a basis and recommendation for the development of an extensive scientific article.
In the one presented by Iv. Today’s text, “the meaning of life” is seen as a synthesizing essence, uniting all the goals, parameters and meanings of human existence: a complex fusion of mental and practical-pragmatic manifestations of self-awareness, impulses and actions, exerting with their direction and results an influence on the lives of loved ones and society. The author also highlighted the factors contributing to realizing the meaning of life; in the vision, the highest goal before man is also “brought out” – in the past and today: the preservation of life itself – a difficult undertaking nowadays in an atmosphere of incessant military conflicts around the world…
As one of the satisfying goals for the meaningfulness of life, the need to develop the creative-creative principle in man is highlighted – a sphere for achieving personal satisfaction from work, such as the impulses of charity; of the readiness to realize humane and altruistic deeds “for others”.
In the sense of personal action on the problem, the practical example of working for the “benefit of society” through the development of more than a decade by Academician Iv. Deneva author’s and non-commercial creative project “The Healing Power of Art”.
