--

Evrotrust, the company behind the Bulgarian National Electronic Identification Scheme, is organizing for the second year in a row a meeting of the leaders from the technological and financial sectors who are driving the digitization processes in the country.

On April 18, 2024, the second edition of the exclusive event “Evrotrust Live!”, which brings together the leaders of digitization in Bulgaria, took place. The invitation-only event provided a platform to discuss current and future trends in e-services, with a focus on the latest in improving customer experience and security. During “Evrotrust Live!”, more than 100 key personalities from the field of technology and finance took part, including heads of leading companies in Bulgaria and Europe.

The event was kicked off by Konstantin Bezukhanov, Executive Director of Evrotrust, who shared: “The main goal of the Evrotrust Live!” event series is to create a single network that allows digitization leaders to share best practices and knowledge, and to affirm Bulgaria’s position as a center for innovation”.

The event also included a panel discussion on strategies to address identity fraud, featuring Vanya Manova, Regional Manager for Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo, Mastercard; Irina Yaneva, Senior Manager, Ernst & Young Law Firm and Assoc. Dr. Manyu Moravenov, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. Panelists discussed how businesses can adapt their digital strategies to protect against new fraud threats and respond to new regulatory changes. Key takeaways included balancing customer experience and fraud protection, as well as overcoming fear of innovation.

The event also discussed key aspects of the new regulations aimed at authentication services, such as eIDAS 2.0, which come into force in 2024. They present the European Union’s new concept of Wallet Digital Identity (EUDI), a tool that gives convenient access citizens to a secure service for identification, signing, etc.

Prof. Dr. Georgi Dimitrov, Chairman of the Board of Evrotrust, who presented the most significant innovations related to regulation in a keynote presentation, also revealed: “eIDAS 2.0 marks significant progress in improving and protecting electronic interactions in Europe, creating a future in which all EU citizens have control over their personal data. The European Digital Identity Wallet is a gateway to a new digital economy that increases access to and trust in e-services across national borders. Adopting the EUDI wallet means embracing a future where digital identities are as pervasive and secure as traditional methods of identification”.

The use of the EUDI wallet will be equivalent to the presentation of personal documents such as an identity card, passport, educational diploma, etc. In this way, citizens will have remote access to electronic services requiring identification provided by public institutions throughout the EU. Businesses can also benefit and provide online services by allowing citizens to identify themselves using their EUDI wallets.

The program also included first shots presenting the completely revamped Evrotrust mobile application. Its new design aims to improve the customer experience and make it even easier to use the services of Evrotrust and their partners. The new look of the application is due to go live in the fall of this year. The company also shared that they are already planning the next event in the “Evrotrust Live!” series.
