The opposition will defend the director of a municipal enterprise from the mayor at tomorrow’s session

An extremely curious case is emerging at tomorrow’s session of the municipal council, “Sliven Press” learned. According to advisors, the opposition is expected to defend a director of a municipal enterprise appointed for replacement. There has never been a similar case in the local parliament of Sliven.

The municipal enterprise “Landscaping and Cemetery Parks” began in 2017, and its director since then has been Veselin Kazakova. In the beginning, it only dealt with landscaping, and a year later, after the liquidation of “Ritual Complex” EOOD, cemetery parks were added to this activity, and it acquired its current form and name.

So far, reviews of Kazakova’s work have been only positive. Official criticism, at least from the management of the municipality, has not been heard. Until today.

As item 17 in the agenda of tomorrow’s meeting of the local parliament, the extension of the director’s contract for another three years is recorded. However, today, at his traditional press conference before each session, the chairman Dimitar Mitev announced that the mayor, who is the importer, will veto the proposal. In response to a question from “Sliven Press”, Mitev gave some clarifications: “I assume that the withdrawal is because most committees requested meetings and a conversation with Kazakova. I guess they are not very happy with her work, at least that’s what I think. I assume that Mr. Radev listened to the committee’s opinion… If you are asking me in a personal capacity, and I have never shied away from speaking my mind – no, I do not like the greening of Sliven. If the municipal council allows the proposal to be withdrawn, a competition for a new director will follow. Mrs. Kazakova, in my opinion, could have done better. As soon as the mayor withdraws the proposal… Which shows that as soon as there is a problem and it is raised, including by colleagues from the opposition, it is normal for those in power to listen. This is a good example.”

However, councilors from the opposition commented to “Sliven Press” that they actually intend to protect Kazakova and ask for an extension of her contract at tomorrow’s session. They expressed doubts as to how much the “opposition” mentioned by Dimitar Mitev really is.

As they say, you’ll know them by their vote. And maybe about who will be the new director.

And why not the new deputy mayor, even though the elections messed things up a bit and delayed some intentions.
