MAYOR MELEMOV SIGNED THE CONTRACT ON THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PROJECT FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL BASE IN SMOLYAN

Today, an administrative contract for grant-in-aid was officially signed between Mayor Nikolay Melemov and Head Director of DG “Operational Program “Environment” Galina Simeonova in her capacity as head of the Managing Body of the Program “Environment 2021-2027” for financing the project “Measures to improve the quality of atmospheric air in the municipality of Smolyan – phase 2” . The procedure is through the direct provision of grant No. G16FFPR002-5.001 “For cleaner air!”, under priority 5 “Air” of the Program “Environment” 2021-2027.

The purpose of the procedure is to contribute to improving the quality of the atmospheric air (AQ) by reducing the excessive levels of fine dust particles (FPC10) on the territory of municipalities with impaired air quality according to this indicator.
The maximum term for project implementation is up to 60 months.
Its value is BGN 20,361,426.92.

Eligible under the POS Procedure 2021-2027 for the replacement of inefficient wood or coal-fired appliances with efficient heating devices using electricity as fuel (air conditioners, heat pumps, photovoltaics) and pellet appliances. Along with this, the procedure does not encourage the replacement of solid fuel heating devices with those using wood, coal or briquettes as primary or secondary fuel.
The project envisages the replacement of inefficient appliances in at least 1,930 households, incl. delivered and installed new environmentally friendly heating devices (appliances/systems) for domestic heating:
• Pellet appliances – 576 pcs.;
• Air conditioners – 2900 units;
• Heat pumps – 244 units;
