IN Sliven region as of April 24 were registered two cases of whooping cough. This was announced by the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) in Sliven. They were found in children with incomplete immunization statuswith no epidemic relation to each other.

When asked if there is information on the number of unvaccinated children in the district, the RZI informed that the pertussis component is contained in various types of vaccines that are administered to children from two months to 12 years of age (according to the country’s Immunization Calendar) and it is not possible to determine the number of unimmunized children.

The immunization coverage for the area with six-component vaccine (against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Poliomyelitis, Haemophilus influenzae type B and Viral hepatitis type B) for 2023 in children aged 2 months is slightly over 88%.

A filter in children’s facilities is carried out daily, regardless of the epidemic situation in the country.

At the moment, it is not necessary to introduce for Sliven region additional anti-epidemic measures regarding the disease whooping cough, also reported by RZI.
