A regional children’s folk song contest dedicated to Gena Dimitrova will be held in Pleven

The already traditional Regional Children’s Folk Song Contest “Pleven Nightingale”, dedicated to opera prima Gena Dimitrova, will take place in Pleven. It is organized by the “Artillery” Association – Gen. Vladimir Vazov.
37 young performers between the ages of 6 and 11 have been admitted to participate, O.Z. told BTA. lieutenant colonel Eng. Radoslav Georgiev, chairman of the Management Board of the association. They will perform on the stage of the Military Club in the city, being divided into three groups. Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each age group. This year’s winner of the “Plevna nightingale” grand prize will be determined from the three winners.
The chairman of the jury is the music pedagogue Mitko Dimitrov, and the members are the music teacher Venera Vasileva and Major Velichko Benekov.
Radoslav Georgiev recalled that the competition was dedicated to Gena Dimitrova not by chance. The great opera singer made her first appearances in musical art as a child, namely as a performer of folk songs.
The opening of the competition is tomorrow in the salon of the Military Club in Pleven.
