The project for energy efficiency of the building of the Interschool Center in Blagoevgrad has been completed, internal renovation is pending

With a final press conference today, the project was finalized, with which the energy efficiency of the building of the former Interschool Center for Labor Polytechnic Training was ensured.

The project “Energy efficiency in a building for an educational cultural center in Blagoevgrad” was financed through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and has a total value of over BGN 1.5 million. The grant is nearly BGN 1.25 million, and the Blagoevgrad municipality’s own funding amounts to about BGN 300,000, said Georgi Ivanovski – project manager.

The performed activities include replacement of the old wooden windows with new PVC, thermal insulation of the internal walls, thermal insulation of the floor and roof, replacement of the lighting. A new heating and cooling system was also built, as well as a photovoltaic power plant for the building’s own needs. An automatic energy management system has also been built.

The subject of the renovation of the MUC building was commented on by the municipal mayor Metodi Baikushev in front of journalists at the end of February. He then announced that an inspection had found that the roof was in very poor condition and needed to be completely replaced before a photovoltaic power plant could be built. At today’s press conference, project manager Georgi Ivanovski commented that the repair of the roof has been carried out, and funds for this have been allocated from the municipal budget – about BGN 260,000.

Before the building can be used, internal renovations will take place, as the project, which officially ended today, is only related to improving energy efficiency, it became clear at the press conference. For this purpose, it is planned to apply with projects for financing the internal repairs.

For one part of the building – the south-eastern part, the courtyard, there is a new project for the construction of a Youth Center, in which the renovation of the first and second floors and the separation of halls and offices is planned, and this part will be completely ready for use, Ivanovski pointed out . A hall with a capacity of at least one hundred people will be set aside in an annex to the building, and accommodation for up to 15 young people from other settlements will be set aside on the second floor, who will be able to spend the night in the building when they participate in various events held there. .
