Petar Vitanov, MEP, reminded NOVINI.BG how important the election on June 9 is. He shared what kind of deputies should enter the Bulgarian parliament and clarified that political pensioners have no place there, only responsible people.
Otherwise, he is also of the opinion that a cascade of crises have accompanied the mandate of the European Parliament (EP) – COVID, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, blockages in the economies, problems in the Middle East. “All this affects our lives,” he reminded.
Vitanov, however, considered the EU’s struggle with climate problems as a success of this EP and explained that this life we have had, we must provide it to our children.
“Now, however, the EU is facing another big challenge – competitiveness. China and the USA, for example, are the countries that confront us,” he explained.
Regarding the anti-sentiments that have been circulating recently, Petar Vitanov categorically stated that the EP does not have high salaries and quiet and peaceful positions. According to him, some of these sentiments in Bulgaria, for example, come precisely from our politicians. “It’s not the EU’s fault that we can’t use all its tools, billions and mechanisms,” he said. “That is why Bulgaria must have a normal, sustainable, pro-European government. Because of our political weakness, we are justifying ourselves to the superiors in Europe,” said Vitanov.
“I will not be a candidate for member of the EP”Vitanov revealed to NOVINI.BG. “However, I am not giving up on politics, on the contrary, and I hope that politics will be better. One can make politics and deal with it not only from the rostrum of the EP,” Petar Vitanov stated categorically.
