The prospects for the development of sports and physical education were discussed at a forum in Kyustendil.

How can physical education and sports become a serious factor in the education of the young generation in Kyustendil?

This and a number of other questions were discussed during the Seminar and round table on the topic “Actual problems and prospects for the development of sports and physical education in the educational system in Kyustendil”.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Kyustendil, together with National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski”, Sofia/National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski”. Bulgariaand National Olympic Academy of BOK.

The forum was held on two consecutive days. It was attended by physical education and sports teachers and sports coaches, the mayor of Kyustendil Municipality – Eng. Ognyan Atanasov, the chairman of the Municipal Council – Dimitar Velinov, the departmental deputy mayor Kristiyan Ivanchov and the experts from the “Tourism, Sports and Youth Activities” department “.

The beginning of the seminar was set by the mayor of Kyustendil Municipality, Eng. Ognyan Atanasov, who expressed his gratitude to the “Vasil Levski” NSA for the active cooperation between the academy and the municipality:

“I believe that together we will achieve very good results for the sport. It is a great honor for us to work together, because not every municipality can boast of such active cooperation with the National Sports Academy, which supports the development of sports on the territory of Kyustendil,” said Eng. Atanasov.

He pointed out the importance of a long-lasting and stable partnership between the two countries in the field of physical education and sports from the point of view of management. Modern methods and means of educating students. And improving the conditions of mass sports, which is the basis for high sports achievements.

For his part, Prof. Lozan Mitev, Ph.D. – teacher and head of the “History of Physical Education and Sports” Department at the Department of “Management and History of Sports” and chairman of the National Olympic Academy of the BOC, also thanked the leadership of the Kyustendil Municipality and personally to Eng. Atanasov for cooperation, enthusiasm and activity in order to achieve the common goal of both parties.

Prof. Mitev greeted those present on behalf of the rector of the National Academy of Sciences – Prof. Krasimir Petkov, PhD. And in his capacity as a representative of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee – and on behalf of the General Secretary of the BOC – Belcho Goranov. The teacher presented the book “Bulgaria in the Olympic Movement 1896-2023” to teacher Ivan Kostov as a sign of appreciation and active cooperation with the National Olympic Academy of the BOC.

During the first day of the seminar, Prof. Mitev presented a lecture on “Aggression in school and counteraction through physical education”. He emphasizes the modern role of physical education and sports teachers in the formation of values, qualities and humanity as a basis for the spiritual development of the young generation. Assoc. Prof. Emi Vitanova, Ph.D. – teacher in the Department “History of Physical Education and Sports” was also present at the lecture.

Clubs and sports organizations must orient themselves towards the European and global sport governance policy. This was stated by Prof. Georgi Draganov, Ph.D., lecturer in the “Management and History of Sports” department at the National Academy of Sciences during the second day of the forum. The subject of his lecture was methods of financing projects in the field of sports at the national and European level, management and management of sports clubs and organizations. Prof. Draganov also emphasizes youth activities and organizations.

The two meetings, part of the seminar and the round table, marked the beginning of a number of upcoming ones. Which are about to be held in Kyustendil, Prof. Mitev pointed out, adding that the NSA plans to hold at least twice a year discussions aimed at the specific issues facing the city – as each settlement has its own problems, achievements, work model .

The National Sports Academy also provides for different types of researchto support the municipality in building a realistic strategy for the transformation of young people’s lives through sports and physical education: “Together with you, we will walk the path to finding more effective mechanisms to be included in educational, training and competitive work and with the forces of the municipality to coordinate your activity in such a way that physical education and sports can become a serious factor in the education of the young generation”, Prof. Mitev also said.
