The Armenian community in Burgas celebrated 109 years since the genocide

--

Burgas honored the 109th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, which took place within the Ottoman Empire in 1915. Dozens of citizens and members of the public were present.

In front of the “Surp Hach” church in the center of Burgas, the anthems of the Republic of Bulgaria and that of the Republic of Armenia were played. The municipal councilor Madeleine Mutafyan gave a speech:

“On this day, it is important what signal, what message we send to today’s and future generations in Bulgaria and around the world, and that is never again, anywhere, against anyone, to allow such a terrible inhumane act to be carried out !”

The program was followed by Siyana Alexieva, who recited Peyo Yavorov’s poem “Armentsi”, as well as Hacho Sarabyan, who sang the song “Hallelujah!”.

The event ended with a procession to the Monument of Gratitude to the Bulgarian People next to the Casino in the Sea Garden.

On April 27, Saturday, the commemorative program continues with a concert at the Puppet Theater in Burgas. Artur Nadosyan, Sandra Alexandrova and Burgas amateurs will take part.
