Neighborhood residents “New road” in Vidin protested against the decision of the mayor of the municipality to have no polling stations in the neighborhood in the upcoming June 9 elections. Ivan Ilievwho is among the organizers, explained:

“We are protesting against the decision of the mayor Dr. Tsenkov to close all polling stations in the Nov Pat district, with a population of about 20,000 people, with the ridiculous reason that in the school where the elections are held every time, the toilets will be in repair. There are mobile toilets. It will be much easier, it will not cost so much to install several mobile toilets, than to transport us to Kapitanovci and back. ”

In the order of the mayor of the municipality on the formation of electoral divisions, it is stated that eight divisions, which until now were housed in the “Bishop Sofroniy Vrachanski” school in the neighborhood, will be moved to other districts. It is explained that the new allocation is aimed at allowing voters to make their choice without interference and manipulation, to prevent cyber-attacks and data security breaches during elections.

According to residents of the “Nov Pat” neighborhood, their rights have been violated. They claim that many people will not go to vote.

“I am a resident of this neighborhood and it will also be a problem for me, for my loved ones, relatives, neighbors, it will also be a problem for them to go, for example, to the village of Kapitanovtsi to vote, or in any section of the city.”

“There are sick people, disabled people. Who will accompany them?”

“This is not right. Where am I going to get funds to go to town to vote.”

There will be another protest, which may turn into civil disobedience, they said in “Nov Pat”.
