Yasen Radev and Radoslav Rosenov won the ninth and tenth medals for Bulgaria from the European Boxing Championship in Belgrade.

The two qualified for the semi-finals in their respective categories in convincing fashion and will leave the Serbian capital with at least bronze honours.

In the category up to 54 kilograms, Radev won over the Italian Tommaso Shacka by 5:0 votes. The Bulgarian was unchallenged in the first two rounds of the fight, and the Italian only won the third, with the minimum 3:2 on the judges’ cards.

In the semi-finals, the Bulgarian, for whom this is the first medal from the European men’s championship, will meet Dmitry Dvali from Russia.

In the 60-kilogram category, the winner of the “Strandja” cup, Rosenov, won by unanimous decision over Artur Tuniev from Belarus. Rosenov was a class above his opponent and looked like he finished without even breaking a sweat.

In contention for a place in the final, Rosenov will face Artur Sahakyan of Armenia.

Before Radev and Rosenov, Ergunal Sebakhtin (48 kg), Javier Ibanez (57 kg) and Yordan Morejon (+92 kg) qualified for the semi-finals from the Bulgarian team, and Sevda Asenova (48 kg), Zlatislava Chukanova (50 kg), Venelina Poptoleva (52 kg), Svetlana Kamenova (57 kg) and Asluhan Mehmedova (63 kg) in the women’s category.

Rami Keuan, who will box in the quarter-finals in the 75kg category in the evening session, may join this group later today.
