Seniors who have passed a state external assessment exam but are not satisfied with their result can apply for a grade upgrade. For this purpose, they need to declare their wish at the respective school, and the deadline to do so is only three days – from April 24 to 26. This was reported to Radio Kardzhali by the head of the Regional Department of Education in Kardzhali, Angelina Kostova.

Those who wish will be able to take advantage for the first time in the May-June session. It applies only for those who have successfully passed their matriculation last year. They can take an exam only in the subject they took the previous time. The application is received by the principal of the school concerned. It is submitted there after it is filled. After that, according to the schedule approved by the Minister of Education, the exams are scheduled.

An extremely important detail is that even if they get a higher grade, it will not change their success in the degree. They will receive a separate certificate that can only be used for applying to a higher education institution.

On 7th graders are given the option of an additional date for matriculation, if due to extraordinary reasons they missed the regular one. Such reasons are a hospital stay, if they were under mandatory isolation or quarantine, or because of a death of a family member that occurred up to one month before the exams.

An application must be submitted to the head of the RUO within seven working days after the regular date for conducting the relevant national external assessment exam. It must be accompanied by a set of documents proving the reason for not appearing on the regular date. The Minister of Education decides when the exam will be held.

An important detail is that students who appear on the second date do not participate in the regular ranking for the places after the seventh grade, and in a separate one, which takes place after the four first rounds are over. Thus, children from the extraordinary graduation date have limited opportunities and occupy only the remaining free places. If there are none, they are accepted above the admission plan only where the physical environment in the schools allows and their score is higher or equal to the minimum of the students accepted in the specified class.

The starting time for the graduation of tenth graders on June 10 is being discussed. Because of the June 9 election, it was proposed to change it from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The minister’s order has been published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and anyone who wishes to give their opinion can do so until May 13, explained Angelina Kostova.
