Over BGN 11.5 million will be provided by the Municipality of Varna for projects in the field of educational infrastructure. With complete unanimity, the Municipal Council gave its consent to provide part of the funds necessary for the construction and major repair of two schools, three kindergartens and one dormitory in the city.
Varna has approved projects under the program of the Ministry of Education and Science for the construction of a new building for Kindergarten No. 39 “Pikazka” in the district “Kaisieva gradina” and for a new building for Kindergarten No. 17 “Dr. Petar Beron” in the district ” Primorski”. The construction of the two sites will cost about BGN 9.15 million, of which BGN 6 million is a grant under the program. The rest must be provided by the Municipality of Varna.
Funds for additional financing of the sites will be included in the municipal budget for 2025, but since the Ministry of Education and Science has set a deadline of May 31, 2024 for confirmation, the proposal has now been accepted by the local parliament.
The councilors also agreed to provide up to BGN 8.35 million for the period 2024-2026 for the implementation of five sites under the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability. The projects for major repairs and implementation of energy efficiency measures for buildings of the “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” and OU “Dobri Chintulov”, kindergartens No. 17 “Dr. Petar Beron” and No. 18 “Chaika”, as well as CPLR High School Dormitory “Mikhail Colony”.
Even before the conclusion of the financing contracts in 2023, public procurement was launched for three of the sites, but due to the fact that no bids were submitted, the procedures were terminated. In this regard, the technical specifications have been refined and updated cost-of-quantity accounts (CQS) have been prepared for all construction and installation works under the financing contracts. The new CCCs significantly exceed the planned costs of the SMR, which is why additional financial resources are needed. It will be provided by the next budgets of the municipality, the “FLAG” fund or through bank loans.

A completely new kindergarten will open its doors this fall in Varna
With complete unanimity, the Municipal Council gave its consent to the opening of the children’s institution at 2 Hushov Street.
The construction of the garden, which began a few years ago, should be completed in August, and from the new year 2024/2025 the children’s institution will start its activities, it became clear at today’s meeting of the local parliament.
The kindergarten will be able to accommodate 100 children in four age groups. With its construction, the number of municipal kindergartens in the “Odessos” region will increase to nine, which will allow the coverage of more children at a permanent and current address in the region.
