Establishing a municipal enterprise “Art Scene – Stara Zagora”

The municipal enterprise “Art Scene – Stara Zagora” is established as a specialized unit in the Municipal Administration. It will manage and manage the municipal properties intended for activities in the field of culture and arts. It includes the cultural stage bases – “Summer Theater”, Cultural Center “Stara Zagora”, Drama Theater “Geo Milev” and Opera Theater.

“The change we are making is important. I hope for positive results, there are 70 dates booked for this year at the “Summer Theater” so far,” commented Milena Zheleva, Deputy Mayor “Culture and Tourism” in Stara Zagora Municipality.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Culture, Tourism and Religions, Nedko Kuzmanov, shared: “This is the next logical stage for achieving sustainability in fulfilling the long-term goals for cultural life in Stara Zagora.”

An important emphasis in its activity will be the initiation of new cultural events and initiatives – festivals, concerts, competitions, with the aim of enriching, improving and upgrading the cultural events traditionally included in the calendar of the Municipality of Stara Zagora.

“This is a true step forward in the future of cultural infrastructure management. I applaud the creation of this new municipal enterprise,” added Darin Petkov, municipal councilor, member of the Standing Committee on Culture, Tourism and Religions and director of the Puppet Theater – Stara Zagora.

According to Art. 52 of the Municipal Property Act /ZOS/ the municipal enterprise is a specialized unit of the municipality for the implementation of local activities and services financed from the municipal budget. It is created, transformed and closed by decision of the Municipal Council and carries out its activities based on the Regulations adopted by the Municipal Council. The rules define the subject of the activity, the structure, the management, the numerical composition and the rights and obligations of the enterprise in relation to the municipal property provided to it. The municipal enterprise is supported by the municipal budget and the funds for its activities are determined by adopting the municipal budget.

Municipal Council – Stara Zagora accepted an increase in the basic monthly salaries of the mayor of the municipality by 15 percent and of the mayors of town halls, within the funds from the State Budget for the activities delegated by the state for remuneration and social security contributions for municipal administration for 2024, with 10 percent starting from January 1, 2024.
