The Golden Voice of Dobrudja Verka Siderova turns 98 today – honorary citizen of Dobrich and recipient of the highest spiritual and state honors.
She was born on April 26, 1926 – five days after the British Queen Elizabeth II. The singer from Dobruja, born in Dobrich, sang for the first time one of the most beautiful songs, which have become an emblem of Bulgarian folk song. 71 years ago, her talent was discovered by Filip Kutev, chief artistic director of the State Ensemble for Folk Songs and Dances. As one of his most prominent soloists, she toured the five continents with him, spreading the beautiful Dobruja folk song everywhere. She is one of the golden voices of Dobruja and Bulgaria! Human, intelligent, witty, carrying the talent of her ancestors, loved and respected.
Verka Siderova won the highest awards: for overall creativity – “Nestinarka”, “Boris Mashalov”, “Golden Clover”, order “Kyril and Methodius” – first degree, order “Stara Planina” – first degree. In 2004, he received the title “Honorary Citizen” of Dobrich.
