The reason is in underground water after heavy rains

A huge hole “swallowed” a car in Plovdiv. The vehicle was parked in front of an apartment block. The rear of the car sank into the gravel on the pavement. The hole has already been filled by the municipality.

“Every day dozens of cars are parked in the area. There were no indications that the place was dangerous. In the morning, on my way to work, I saw my vehicle in a pothole. I was quite surprised and stressed. At the first moment, I thought that my tires had been stolen”, the owner of the crashed car, Plamen Bashev, said on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria”.

He sees that the only way to get his vehicle out is through a “spider”. “Roadside assistance answered me that they will remove the car, but they do not have the right to come, because they are a state institution and do not have the right to perform such services,” Bashev said. That’s why he called a private company.

“The house manager of the block sent a signal to 112. I called the emergency phone, my signal was passed on to the fire department and the municipality. The fire department explained to me that as long as there is no person in distress, they will not send a team. They told me in plain text to get better on my own”, says Bashev.

On the day of the accident, the driver goes to work by bicycle and is adamant that he will not park his car in the same place for the next few weeks. The most likely cause of the collapse is groundwater that has collected as a result of heavy rainfall.
