University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” passed successful accreditation, we can now train up to 6,600 students

Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” received a high rating from the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation, which allows him to significantly expand his potential. The good news was announced by the Rector Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, MD.
“The new institutional accreditation is for a period of 6 years. What’s different about it is that it gives us the right to train up to 6,600 students, which is roughly twice as many as now. This is a success for us and gives us a strong impetus in the coming years to work not only to increase the number of students in the existing specialties, but also to discover new ones, and also to attract students from abroad”, said Prof. Bozov.
He shared that starting this year, the university is introducing several new majors.
Among them are: “Health Care Management” in the Faculty of Public Health and Health Care; “Tourism and Healthy Eating”, “Tourism and Entrepreneurship”, “Hotel and Restaurant Management” in the College of Tourism and “Cybersecurity: Technologies in the Financial Sphere” in the Faculty of Technical Sciences. In addition to them, we are also introducing another specialty related to green technologies in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, as well as three new specialties in the Faculty of Social Sciences, aimed at training teachers to work with children with special educational needs,” added Prof. Bozov.
He was elected chancellor less than 12 months ago and in that short time has shown a rapid pace of implementation of the goals of his platform. This is also evident from the fact that the university has moved up in the annual rating system of higher education institutions in the country. In the latest ranking, it is in 11th place, while only a year ago it was behind 40th.
“I am glad that we are marking a very serious progress, which is the result of the good work of all colleagues. We will continue in the same spirit to achieve an even better performance”, said Prof. Bozov.
University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” is the largest state university in Southeast Bulgaria. It accepts students in 143 majors in 18 professional fields and is one of the most respected educational institutions in the country.
