Five municipal councilors were sworn in at today’s meeting of the Municipal Council. It was the first of the Council with a mandate of 2019-2023, which returned to the Haskovo Hall after the court canceled the elections in Haskovo for councilors from last fall. According to the rules, in fact, the meeting is the 43rd in a row for this municipal council, since in their previous mandate the councilors held 42 sessions.

After the Municipal Election Commission terminated the powers of Dimitar Nichev, who is already the mayor of the village of Uzundzhovo, of Stoil Stoilov, Antoni Pashov, Rosen Atanasov and Evgeni Hristov, they were replaced by: Maria Delcheva and Vasil Mitevot GERB, Todor Topalov and Dragomir Andonov from the “Democratic Bulgaria – United” Coalition, as well as Sevjan Ilyaz from the DPS.

In the course of the meeting, the chairman of the Municipal Council, Tanya Zahariev, announced that Daniel Yordanov is resigning from the post of chairman of the session group of the BSP, for which the minutes of the meeting of the socialists from April 24 have been received. Councilor Bogdan Bogdanov was elected in his place.

The meeting continued with a decision on the expansion of the cemetery park in Haskovo. The speech of Yozcan Mehmed, who pointed out that the chairman of the DPS Delyan Peevski has the main credit for the free donation of the property with which the cemetery park will be expanded, was met with ironic cheers from the hall.

However, the point of completion of the procedure for changing the nature of ownership from public municipal to private municipal on municipal land properties in the villages of Knizhovnik and Dolno Vojvodino for the construction of a photovoltaic park, which began in 2020, has seriously stirred spirits. It was accepted with 29 votes in favor, but in the course of the debates, GERB councilor Delyan Delchev allowed himself an insulting remark to Kamen Todorov from the BSP, in which he mentioned Todorov’s mother. Because of the obscene expression and unacceptable tone, the BSP left the session after the announced break, announced the new chairman of the session group, Bogdan Bogdanov. “This is unacceptable. This is a shame and disgrace for the Municipal Council of Haskovo!”, he summarized the behavior of the councilor from the GERB group and justified the departure of the meeting from the side of the socialists.
