The labor inspectors held a meeting with graduates from two good high schools Dobrich Regional Television

The employees of the Directorate “Labor Inspection” based in Dobrich held a meeting with the 12th grade students of the Professional High School of Veterinary Medicine “Prof. Dr. G. Pavlov” and Vocational High School of Agrarian Economy in the regional town. The young people were informed of their rights and obligations, according to the requirements of the labor legislation when starting work.

The experts from the Labor Inspectorate shared their experience of control activities. They pointed out that when workers agree to work without an employment contract, very often they are dismissed without receiving any remuneration for the time worked and have difficulties to protect their rights due to lack of evidence of the existence of the employment relationship.

During the lesson, it was explained to the students that when they agree to work without an employment contract or contract shorter working hours than the actual and lower remuneration than received, they lose employment and insurance rights. In these cases, they either do not accumulate insurance experience at all (when they work without an employment contract), or it is less than the actually completed. This limits their right to unemployment, temporary incapacity and maternity benefits. Insurance on lower premiums, on the other hand, reduces the amount of benefits.

The fictitious clauses in the employment contracts also limit the possibilities to protect the rights, since the control authorities are prevented from gathering indisputable evidence that the workers or employees have worked for a certain period back in time or that they have worked more for a greater reward. The students learned that they had to report while they were still at their workplaces and it could be established beyond doubt that they were working without a contract of employment.
