The course for lifeguards at sea builds on the one already held for the pool in Haskovo. At the beginning of April, 14 people passed the test for lifeguards of artificial water bodies. 10 of them have decided to apply for the second level, where the standards are higher. “Two of them are timed: a 100m freestyle swim, where candidates must swim the distance in up to 1 minute and 40 seconds, the other is a 25 meter casualty recovery in up to 1 minute and 20 seconds, explained Anton Nalbantov, director of the Water Rescue Directorate at the Bulgarian Red Cross.

In addition, candidates had to pass disciplines related to skills, techniques and skills. According to the examiners, this year’s students from Haskovo gave extremely high results.

” Good conditions for training, I mean the indoor pool is a great asset for the city! This makes it possible not to break the cycle of preparation, because it is affected by atmospheric conditions and other factors, as it was before,” Anton Nalbantov also pointed out.

The only lady among the candidates for lifeguards was Elitsa Hristova, who studies at the Science and Mathematics High School. She decided to become a lifeguard by inheritance. He has been swimming since the 3rd grade and passed all standards with extremely high results.

“My father is a lifesaver. And I have spent several summers with him at sea and I really like his work. It’s a very responsible position, of course, you still hold people’s lives in your hands and it’s important to keep them whole. “

The upgrading course for a lifeguard at sea costs BGN 180, and the price has not changed.
