In Montana, they defined a “green zone” for paid parking in the wide center of the city. The proposal was submitted at the last session by the mayor Zlatko Zhivkov and is supported by 24 of the 33 councilors. Three of the “Vazrazhdane” group voted against. According to the councilors from “Vazrazhdane”, a “blue zone” with a fee of 2 BGN and a “green zone” with a fee of BGN is inadmissible in the city where the people with the lowest incomes live according to the NSI data. Councilors from “Vazrazhdane” believe that the new paid parking zone will not reduce cars in the center because people will continue to look for places in the small streets.

In the “green zone” it will be possible to stay up to 30 minutes, which will be paid for with a ticket from a parking meter or a coupon. The fee for a stay of up to 1 hour will be BGN 1 on working days between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The expansion of the paid parking area is generally – “Bitov Kombinat” parking lot, DZI parking lot, “Izvora” street parking lot, the theater parking lot, “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Graf Ignatiev Street, Al. Stamboliyski”, “Dragan Tsankov” street, “Zhytomyr” hotel.

The expected income from the “green zone” is BGN 191,000, the costs for marking and assigning parking spaces BGN 10,000.

With another decision, the councilors removed from the “blue zone” the section of “Tsar Boris III” street from “Al” blvd. Stamboliyski” to the intersection with “Slavyanska” street, in order to facilitate access to the polyclinics and laboratories in the area.
