Believers donate blood in a church school on Palm Sunday in Tarnovo

A blood donation drive will take place on Palm Sunday at the “St. Nicholas” church in Veliko Tarnovo, MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov” announced. For another year, the old capital will participate in the national campaign “Light a candle, give life”.

On one of the brightest Christian holidays, those who wish can donate blood in the Sunday school at the temple, where from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. there will be an outsourced medical station of the transfusion hematology department of the hospital.

Anyone who wants to participate in the action can first observe the Christian traditions, light a candle, take communion on an empty stomach, and the medical team will welcome the blood donors with bread so that the blood can be taken.

Any clinically healthy person who does not take medication and has not donated blood in the last 60 days can be a blood donor. Since 2007, more than 14,000 regular blood donors have been registered in the system of the Transfusion Hematology Department at the Veliko Tarnovo Hospital, the idea of ​​the blood donation drives during the holidays is to attract even more people sympathetic to the cause of blood donation, said Dr. Mariyana Vitanova, head of the department. She added that the benefits of donating blood are many, both for those in need of a blood transfusion and for the one who donates.
