On April 24, the Regional Governor Nadya Donkinska convened an extraordinary meeting of the Regional Epizootic Commission in connection with the worsening epizootic situation in the country regarding the bird flu disease with a view to taking concrete measures and actions for prevention. The director of ODBH – Vratsa Tsvetelina Todorova informed the attendees about the epizootic situation in the country and the Vratsa region, noting that at the moment there is a high risk of disease and found outbreaks in several points in the country, but at the moment there are no registered cases of sick birds in the Vratsa region .
In compliance with the Order of the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency – Sofia, Todorova discussed with those present the taking of specific actions and measures against the spread of the disease in poultry farms in the Vratsa region and that intensified information campaigns among the population should be carried out as a matter of urgency. On the part of the ODBH – Vratsa, together with the local structures, inspections of poultry farms will be organized and carried out to ensure compliance with the requirements for the movement of birds, as well as enhanced control of the entrance to poultry meat production enterprises, by performing a thorough clinical examination and checking of all required documents.
The regional governor emphasized the importance of timely measures for the prevention of bird flu and called on all responsible institutions to work together in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
