The family tree of the Shishman family was presented to the renovated Shishman house by the Municipality of Haskovo . The historical study of the family, considered the founder of modern Haskovo, is by Dr. Veselina Uzunova from RIM Haskovo.

With a festive bell ringing in honor of the Shishman family, thanks to whom the largest church in Haskovo “Holy Virgin” was built, the memorable event was marked at exactly 12 noon. The consecration of the house was performed with a church ritual performed by Father Nicholas. The Mayor of the Haskovo Municipality Stanislav Dechev, the Chairman of the Haskovo Municipal Council Tanya Zaharieva, the Deputy Mayor Maria Valcheva, the director of RIM Haskovo Penko Dobrev, Milena Trendafilova – representative of the “Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development” were among the guests at the ceremony. In the spirit of the old city traditions, the guests were welcomed at the Shishmanova house with lean pita and sweets, and the most senior guest of the event, the mayor, presented the hosts with an icon of the Mother of God and a blooming flower for health and prosperity.

“Of the dozens of projects that are implemented in Haskovo, the REVITA project is particularly fascinating. Because he breathed new life into the Shishman House and Kirkovo School, which are unique to our city. He revived the revival houses. Therefore, I would like to first of all congratulate the project team represented by the Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development and the Regional History Museum,” said the mayor of Haskovo, Stanislav Dechev. “Yesterday in the Kirk school we talked about ancestral memory and that it is vitally important to preserve it. That is why the Municipality of Haskovo, together with Dr. Veselina Uzunova, managed to recreate the family tree of the Shishman family, which dates back to 1734. I hope more people will learn the history of one of the families that founded our modern city,” said the mayor.

The renewal and revitalization of exhibition spaces in the “Ethnography” hall of RIM Haskovo, Shishmanova House and Kirkovo School became possible, in implementation of the REVITA project, financed by the “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation” Program of the Financial Mechanism of the EEA 2014-2021.
