An exhibition of the Historical Museum in Targovishte tells about the power of the human spirit. The exposition is entitled “Verbinka – sent by God” and is organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Verbinka Dimitrova, a native of the village of Iliino. The woman, born without limbs, has inspired thousands of sufferers in our country and around the world, the Regional History Museum (RIM) in the regional city announced.
In 2017, the Regional History Museum in Targovishte received a large donation from the Bulgarian Slavi Vassilev, who lived in Switzerland for many years. It contains 12 bags full of notebooks, notebooks, photo albums and many other personal belongings of Verbinka Dimitrova, who lived until 2010 in the village of Betlach in Switzerland. The donor knew Verbinka during her lifetime and knew what her will was – that the archive and her belongings be returned to her native land. That is why, a few years earlier, he left a large part of the belongings in the town hall in the Omurtag village of Iliino.
With the cooperation of the mayor of the village, Vildan Hyusmenova, the belongings of Varbinka Dimitrova were collected and stored in the museum in Targovishte. The citizens and guests of Targovishte will be able to see all this in the new exhibition of the cultural institution, which will be opened on April 30 in the Slaveykov School – part of the museum complex.
Verbinka Dimitrova is a phenomenon and an example of the power of the human spirit, who inspired faith in thousands of sufferers around the world – from Bulgaria, through Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, India, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland. The main means for this are her demonstrations in large halls, salons, lobbies, where she shows the audience what she can do without arms and legs and how with faith, patience and will, everything is achieved. All her life she has been on the road – a “messenger of Mercy”. A large part of its demonstrations are under the patronage of the International Red Cross. The funds from the demonstrations are donated to charity, for the construction of hospitals, for the treatment of sick children. She leaves so much for herself that she can survive and make new prostheses, which wear out in a few years, said the museum team, which worked on arranging the exhibition, and they hope more people will learn about Dimitrova, with whom her native village and Bulgaria can be proud.
