With 35 “yes” votes, ObS-Blagoevgrad almost unanimously accepted the great Blagoevgrad artist Stoine Shalamanov to posthumously receive the title of “Honorary Citizen”. Some time ago, in Blagoevgrad, a petition was started, supported by many people, to pay this tribute to the creator.

“Stoine Shalamanov has made great contributions to the city and its creative development. There was almost no major event for which he did not create his work. He was a wonderful man who is greatly missed. He carried light in himself, he gave to everyone completely selflessly,” Zdravka Chimeva, who is among the most active citizens and public figures in Blagoevgrad, said today.

The famous master of the brush left this world in 1984, when he was only 48 years old. Shalamanov was among the founders of the Blagoevgrad group of the Union of Bulgarian Artists in 1961 and was its creative secretary for many years. He is the first graduate artist in Blagoevgrad who left a lasting mark on the cultural life of our city. One of his many students is Ivan Milushev, who is the director of the City Art Gallery in our city.
