A 160-year-old community center in Yambol has announced a donation campaign for urgent repairs

The oldest and largest community center in Yambol has announced a donation campaign for urgent repairs. The roof of the 160-year-old building is highly compromised and there are leaks in the premises and on the stage in the auditorium, the facade also needs repair, the People’s Community Center “Saglasie – 1862” states on its Facebook page.

“In the current situation, we are not able to provide the necessary funds to start these activities on our own, in order to preserve and normally use the community center building. We also expect financial support from the Yambol Municipality. The building is not municipal property, but it is the property of all citizens of Yambol,” the community center wrote.

According to the decision of the general assembly and the board of the community center, a donation account was opened, which was also published on the Facebook page of the cultural institution. The campaign is entitled “Meet the history, save the heritage”, states BTA.

“It is not only the oldest but also the largest cultural institution, home to schools and clubs attended by children, youth and adults. This is also the only home of the “Nevena Kokanova” Drama Theater, the Yambol community center “Saglasie – 1862” recalls.
