They’re fed up! Burgas residents have been waiting for their nightmare to end for more than a year! They are preparing protests!

For too long, a street in the Burgas residential complex “Slaveykov” has been dug up after plumbing repairs. The residents of blocks 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 65, 71, 72, 113 and 114 have been “enjoying” the lunar landscape next to their homes. People are threatening to protest and block major boulevards in the city if measures are not taken as soon as possible, a reporter told Burgas24.bg.

The repair of the street and the replacement of the sewers will begin already at the beginning of December 2022. The pipes were replaced, and the repair company only filled in the excavated sections and dumped them. People complain that huge holes and bumps have appeared. In the summer season, when the weather is dry and because of the cars passing on the street in question, clouds of dust were raised, and in the autumn-winter season, when the rains begin.

“Thus, for more than a year, due to the inaction of the institutions responsible for this, we citizens, as well as businesses, are forced to suffer the harmful consequences of this, to breathe air with a high concentration of dust and to move along a muddy and dirty street, and that our children cannot go out to play or play sports because of the dust in the air.

We are all puzzled why this repair has not been finalized for more than a year, why when a street is dug up due to repair work, it is not then returned to its previous condition to be used by the residents as intended, why after the pipeline is replaced already a year ago, we have to wait so long for a street of about 500 meters to be finished and put into operation, given that it takes at most a month to complete the repair work. All these questions have no adequate answer. The institutions pass the ball to each other, the municipality excuses itself that everything depends on the Burgas Waterworks, and the Burgas Waterworks declare that the municipality is the one responsible, but in the end no one takes responsibility for what is happening.

Next, the huge potholes on the street in question create conditions for the occurrence of road accidents, especially during the summer season, when the traffic on it is intense. In addition, due to the large bumps on it, we wreck our cars regularly, which causes us great damage. And the biggest damage is suffered by the commercial establishments on the street, which complain of an outflow of customers because of the dust, potholes and dirt. Here follows the question of who will repair these damages and how all of us who suffer them will be compensated”, complain the residents of the area.

People insist that the Municipality of Burgas fulfill its obligations and complete the repair of the street as soon as possible. “In the event that there is no result from this report within two weeks of its submission, we will be forced to seek our rights in court for the damages caused to us, as well as to announce the beginning of protest actions with the closure of junction boulevards in the city” , they threaten.
