The family tree of the Shishman family was presented by the Municipality of Haskovo to the renovated Shishman house. The historical study of the family, considered the founder of modern Haskovo, is by the historian Dr. Veselin Uzunova.
With a celebratory bell ringing in honor of the Shishman family, thanks to whom the largest church in Haskovo – “Holy Mother of God” was built, the memorable event was marked precisely at 12 noon.
In the spirit of the old city traditions, the guests were welcomed in the Shishmanova house with lean pita and sweets. Mayor Stanislav Dechev presented the hosts with an icon of the Holy Mother of God and a blooming flower for health and prosperity.
The consecration of the house was performed with a church ritual performed by Father Nicholas.
“Of the dozens of projects that are being implemented in Haskovo, the REVITA project is particularly fascinating. It breathed new life into the Shishmanov house and Kirkovo school, which are unique to our city. It revived the revival houses. Therefore, I would like to first of all congratulate the project team in the face of the Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development and the Regional History Museum,” said the mayor.
“Yesterday at the Kirkovo school we talked about family memory and that it is vitally important to preserve it. That is why the Municipality of Haskovo, together with Dr. Veselina Uzunova, managed to recreate the family tree of the Shishman family, which dates back to 1734. I hope more people to learn the history of one of the families, founders of our modern city,” said the mayor.
Among the guests were Tanya Zaharieva, the chairman of the Regional Historical Museum – Haskovo, Penko Dobrev, the director of the Regional History Museum, and Milena Trendafilova, a representative of the Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development.
