Tension in Vidin due to the order of the mayor, Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov, that there would be no polling station in the Roma quarter of Vidin Nov Pat. Because of the news, people protested, and this weekend they threatened to block traffic on Danube Bridge 2. What are the mayor’s considerations and is there a solution to the case, Kalin Ivanov checked.

With his order, the mayor of Vidin has prohibited the placement of an election section in the school in the Roma quarter Nov Pat. This angered the locals as they felt their electoral rights were being violated. And there are dozens of versions of the reasons for Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov’s actions.

Ivan Iliev, resident of Nov Pat district:
“Do you know what they said? He did this thing for security, so that there would be no cyberattacks. Now we are also waiting for an explanation that there will be attacks from the aliens as well.”

However, the truth according to people is different.

Ivan Iliev, resident of Nov Pat district:
“There are about 2,500 votes in the Nov Pat district. If these people do not vote, the voter turnout in the region drops extremely, and then 7 or 8 thousand voters will not be needed for one deputy to enter the National Assembly. About 4 thousand will be needed , this is the truth, the scheme according to which the mayor and the real mayor Martin Donchev works”.

According to the mayor, the reason is quite simple.

On the phone: Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov, Mayor of Vidin:
“Whenever there are elections, everything is on a political basis. We start a serious renovation of the school and especially the toilets, and I ask you, during the elections – 12 o’clock, where will people go to the toilet? Second, in particular, one group of our fellow citizens is always looking for some kind of provocation during the elections. Moreover, we saw their attitude during the local elections and it is unnecessary for me to comment on anything. In the end, these people will be able to vote 500 meters from this place in several sections in the neighboring districts.”

The residents of the neighborhood will not back down and will turn to civil disobedience.

Ivan Iliev, resident of Nov Pat district:
“We will not burn cars, we will not commit pogroms, but we will close the Danube bridge for heavy goods vehicles. Not a single truck will pass.”

The protest of the dissatisfied is expected this weekend.
