With a celebratory bell ringing in honor of the Shishman family, thanks to whom the largest church in Haskovo “Holy Mother of God” was built, the memorable event was marked exactly at 12 noon. The consecration of the house was carried out with a church ritual performed by Fr. The Mayor of Haskovo Municipality, Stanislav Dechev, the Chairman of the Haskovo Municipal Council, Tanya Zaharieva, the Director of RIM Haskovo, Milena Trendafilova – representative of the Alliance for Regional Cooperation, were among the guests at the ceremony in the Shishmanova house with lean pita and sweets, and the highest guest of the event, the mayor, presented the hosts with an icon of the Mother of God and a blooming flower for health and prosperity.
“Of the dozens of projects that are being implemented in Haskovo, the REVITA project is particularly fascinating. Because it breathed new life into the Shishman House and Kirkovo School, which are unique to our city. It revived the revival houses. Therefore, I would like to first of all congratulate the project team in the person of the Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development and the Regional History Museum,” said the mayor of Haskovo, Stanislav Dechev. “Yesterday at the Kirkovo School, we talked about ancestral memory and that it is vitally important to preserve it. That is why the Municipality of Haskovo, together with Dr. Veselina Uzunova, managed to recreate the family tree of the Shishman family, which dates back to 1734. I hope more people will learn the history of one of the families that founded our modern city,” said the mayor.
The renovation and revitalization of exhibition spaces in the “Ethnography” hall of RIM Haskovo, Shishmanova House and Kirkovo School became possible, in implementation of the REVITA project, financed by the “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation” Program of the Financial Mechanism of the EEA 2014-2021.
