“Euronews Bulgaria” has a new operational director

Valentina Voikova is the new operational director of “Euronews Bulgaria” (formerly “Europa” Television), according to the official announcement sent to the media.

She is presented as a professional with over 20 years of television experience. She worked at Balkan Bulgarian Television (BBT), which was later bought by TV7, BNT, BTV, Pro BG and TV7 (News7), the press release states.

At the end of last year, nearly 10 journalists left the television, including the then chief producer Nadya Gancheva, the chief editor of the television station Marina Stoimenova and the chief editor of the website Kalina Vlaikova.

The specific reason was not mentioned at the time because of clauses in the contracts that some of them have. Unofficially, “Dnevnik” learned from conversations that the reason was the appointment of the former head of the cabinet of the Minister of Culture in the last government of Boyko Borisov Boil Banov – Vanya Zaharieva (at that time with the surname Bedrova – note ed.) as program director.

“At the suggestion of the partners and after numerous interviews, Valentina Voikova was approved for this position,” the announcement says.

According to her business card, Voikova is the winner of numerous journalistic awards, has specializations in the Bulgarian-American center for training journalists PRO Media, specialization “European standards in the media”, Italy, specializations in CNN, Atlanta, as well as specialization in digital marketing.

He is a member of the “World Conference NEWS Xchange” and of the CNN-CJF Fellows. Voikova holds a master’s degree in “Bulgarian Philology” and “Political Science”.
