With the donation, the University of Ruse is committed to replacing the computers in the laboratory with more powerful ones

​Today, April 26, 2024, in a meeting hall of the University of Ruse, Siemens made a free donation of Ruse University. Donationof equipment for industrial automation and communications for educational purposes with a total market value of BGN 62,650.00 incl. VAT. is for the purpose of renovation and modernization of the jointly built laboratory on “Siemens Industrial Controllers and Communications” (10.323). The package includes 8 industrial controllers, 8 operator panels, communication equipment for building a Profinet network, one network-controlled frequency inverter and the necessary modern software products to work with the new equipment.

The joint long-term cooperation with Siemens in the field of education supports the University of Ruse in the development of a more practical and higher quality learning process, helps to develop better prepared specialists and to improve the business climate in the Ruse region as a whole, and from there and to raise the standard of living.

The handover protocol was officially signed by the rector of the Ruse University Prof. Dr. Eng. Plamen Kangalov and Eng. Dr. Boryana Manolova, CEO of Siemens for Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Ukraine. From March 2024, she was elected as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Ruse.

The event was attended by the chairman of the General Assembly of the University, Acad. Hristo Beloev – honorary rector of Rousse University, the mayor of Municipality of Rousse mr Pencho Milkovthe vice-rector for scientific research Assoc. Dr. Desislava Atanasova, Assoc. Dr. Vyara Ruseva, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation, Plamen Zahariev, Head of the Telecommunications Department, and from Siemens: Eng. Teodor Marinov – Head of Digital Industries, Eng. Rumen Stoimenov – Director of the Center for Innovations in Building Technologies, Ms. Rumyana Parusheva – Director of Communications and Sustainability Manager, Eng. Boyko Boykov – Sales Engineer and Coordinator of the “Siemens” Program cooperate with education”.

Rector of Ruse University thanked Siemens for donationit, stressing that the cooperation has been going on for many years. He noted that this is not the first time donation and expressed hope that it would not be the last. Prof. Dr. Eng. Plamen Kangalov thanked on behalf of the students for having the opportunity to learn about the latest technology in this field, noting that Siemens also provides software, which few companies do. After graduating, the students will be able to apply it in the places where they found fulfillment, he added.

Eng. Dr. Boryana Manolova thanked for the successful work and cooperation with Ruse University. “My heart is in Ruse and in the university as a student and doctoral candidate, and now as chairman of the board of trustees”she added.

The mayor, Mr. Milkov, pointed out that, in addition to the technological sphere, new technologies also enter the public sphere, and all people should be extremely open and familiarize themselves with them. He emphasized the presence of the traditional long-standing partnership and cooperation with the university, in solving scientific problems and in implementing innovations.

Academician Beloev noted that in the last 4-5 years the university made a leap, being one of the 10 research universities. The University of Ruse is innovative, modern and sets quite serious ambitious plans for research activities in new scientific fields, Academician Beloev added.
