The epizootic situation in the Vidin region is calm regarding the bird flu disease.

This became clear at a meeting of the District Commission for Control of Epidemics, Epizootics and Zoonotic Diseases today.

In Bulgaria, a total of 13 outbreaks were registered among domestic birds and one among wild birds, and 800,000 of them were killed.

The last case of Avian Influenza in Vidin region was from 2020, recalled the head of the “Animal Health” department in the veterinary service, Dr. Valery Velkov.

The meeting discussed measures to prevent the spread of the disease both in private households and in the industrial sector.

The regional governor, Ivo Atanasov, requested strict control over the ban on bird markets, as well as increased joint inspections with the law enforcement authorities of places where poultry products are offered

The representatives of the ODBH – Vidin assured the regional governor that they have the necessary disinfection materials for processing the Border Control checkpoints, readiness and resources to react in emergency situations.
