The three fraudsters discovered by the Plovdiv police drove their victim to suicide. this became clear in the courtroom, where a panel of the District Court is currently reviewing their detention orders.

Today, the Plovdiv District Prosecutor’s Office indicted two men and one woman for coercion and causing property damage in the amount of BGN 173,000. They forced the injured 46-year-old woman, by means of a threat, to dispose of sums of money against her will and thereby caused her property damage in the amount of BGN 173,000.

The accused were detained after an investigation and a specialized police operation by employees of the “Economic Police” department at the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Plovdiv.

Nicoleta Petkova, Filip Spasov and Teodor Sergiev are involved in the scheme. The three are from Sofia, and according to the prosecutor’s office, they acted on the instructions of Georgi Slaveikov Georgiev, who is serving a sentence in Varna. Nicoleta and Teodor live as a family and have two children. Their victim is a 46-year-old woman from Tsalapitsa. Fraudsters found gullible people on social networks, got under their skin, and then began to blackmail them. They did the same with Atanaska. The woman had obligations and was looking for a solution to the issue, entering various sites. There she came across the fraudsters. They promised to arrange loans from banks despite her bad credit record and will help her. They started taking her to different banks and she took out several large loans. They forced her to hand over the amounts to them, allegedly with the explanation that they would repay her old debts. However, this has not happened. They were constantly with the injured Atanaska, but deleted from her phone all the photos that could incriminate them in the crime committed. She received the instructions from the prisoner Georgi Georgiev.

The sum reached almost BGN 200,000 and the victim found herself in a dead end. The fraudsters started threatening to liquidate her and harm her children. It got to the point where she took her own life by taking a large amount of sleeping pills.

The three were detained, and during a search of Georgiev’s cell, two mobile phones were found.

Bank employees are also involved in the fraud, because the loans were granted despite the woman’s name appearing on the list of persons with a bad credit rating.

During a search of Theodore and Nicoleta’s home in Sofia, a small amount of cocaine was also found.

The court left the three in custody.
