The biggest capital of Bulgaria’s second largest university hospital is the people who work there. The management of the hospital, together with the management of the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov” – Varna, helps the career development of more than 2,100 employees, which by the end of 2023 are: 36 professors, 62 associate professors, 70 principal assistants, 182 assistants, 708 health care specialists, 388 nurses and 428 other personnel, with an average age of 45 years.
A large-scale investment program is being implemented, mainly modernizing the medical equipment of the clinics for nuclear medicine and metabolic therapy, pneumology and phthisiology, imaging diagnostics, angiographic and invasive cardiology and interventional neurology and operating room. Ongoing repairs are being carried out and the furniture and infrastructure of the infectious diseases and psychiatric clinics are being renewed. In the second half of 2023, the most modern center for the treatment of arrhythmias in the Balkans became operational.

It has two nuclear magnetic resonances, three angiographs, two super-modern scanners, the most modern PET-scanner and SPECT-scanner, three linear accelerators, ultrasound machines, endoscopes, a robot for dissolving cytostatics, robotic surgery, a modern hospital information system, a translation center medicine, cell therapy, etc. As of 31.12.2023, a total of 287 bone marrow transplants were performed at the medical facility, of which 187 were autologous and 93 allogeneic. Unique methods of diagnosis, therapeutic, conservative and operative treatment have been implemented. Patients from all over the country seek diagnosis and treatment at Saint Marina University Hospital, and the treated patients from other settlements outside Varna are 16,518 for 2023.

The expediency, legality and economic efficiency of the activities of the subsidiary “Sveta Marina Pharma” EOOD are confirmed by the positive financial result achieved for another year, by the findings of the State Financial Inspection Agency, objectified in Report No. DID7-ВН-192023/15.01.2024 d. from the financial inspection carried out regarding the lawful application of the Law on Public Procurement in the conclusion of the contracts for the supply of medicinal products and medical devices, subject of the inspection and regarding the funds saved from the budget of the NHIF only for medicines in the amount of BGN 6,918,635 for the period from 01.01.2020 – 20.12.2023
