The decision will enter into force on January 1, 2025.
On the last working day before the elections, the parliament voted a final salary increase in the Bulgarian army. According to the texts, the salaries of military personnel will increase by an average of 30 percent.

Deputies adopted in the second reading changes to the Law on Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria, which ensure higher salaries for military personnel from next year. The bill belongs to all political forces and the texts were unanimously supported by 164 votes.
The basis for determining the amount of the basic monthly remuneration for the lowest position will be calculated annually. The average salary for the country for the second quarter of the previous year according to the data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) will be taken as a basis. The basic monthly remuneration is increased by a factor compared to the base – for officers not less than 1.2. Officer candidates – junior officers, sergeants and soldiers – not less than 1.0 percent. A similar increase was also accepted for the salaries of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior.

The basis for determining the amount of the basic monthly salary for the lowest position of civil servants is the average salary for the country for the second quarter of the previous year according to NSI data. The basic monthly salary is increased by a factor in relation to education – for higher education not less than 0.8 percent, up to and including secondary education not less than 0.6%.
Parliament accepted that the monthly remuneration of military personnel increased by the factor cannot be less than the previous year.
