The rector of TU-Gabrovo Prof. Dr. Eng. Iliya Zhelezaraov and the executive director of ERM Zapad Eng. Georgi Mikov signed the agreement. The agreement aims to combine the experience of the two organizations in the preparation of highly qualified personnel for the needs of the energy sector and in providing a stable working environment that contributes to the long-term development and professional improvement of young specialists.
“The Technical University – Gabrovo has very good traditions in interaction with business. With this agreement, we confirm our commitment to providing quality and modern education tailored to the needs of the energy sector and business. I believe that cooperation with ERM Zapad will help us attract students who will find better professional fulfillment after completing their studies”, Prof. Iliya Zhelezazarov, rector of the higher school, pointed out during the ceremony.
ERM West develops a long-term policy to support professional education in Bulgaria. The company’s goal is to contribute to improving the quality of professional training in the sector and to create a satisfying and motivating environment so that young people stay and develop their careers in Bulgaria. Part of this policy is the sustainable partnership with vocational high schools and higher education institutions with an electricity profile. TU-Gabrovo is the first higher education institution outside the territory of Western Bulgaria, with which ERM West establishes partnership relations, it became clear during the signing.
“Our goal is to prepare young people not only with theoretical knowledge, but also with practical skills that are necessary for their successful careers. Ensuring a stable working environment is of key importance for attracting and retaining talented personnel in the sector, and cooperation with TU-Gabrovo is an important step towards this goal,” said Georgi Mikov, executive director of ERM West.
The Technical University-Gabrovo was established in 1964 by a decree of the National Assembly. The idea of a higher school in the city dates back to the 1940s. It was formed by Vasil Aprilov, the virtuoso and founder of New Bulgarian education, and his associate Nikola Palauzov. The institute started working with 1327 people in part-time education. In Gabrovo, students study for the first three years, and then continue to study and graduate where they were admitted before the university was established. In 1965, the Gabrovo Technical University received its own admission and study quota and students began and completed their studies there. Education at the Technical University-Gabrovo is carried out in three faculties under programs for the educational and qualification degrees “bachelor” and “master” and for the educational and scientific degree “doctor”, as well as under programs for qualification and postgraduate specialization in the system of continuing education.
