Over 200 students and 100 teachers from 32 cities in the country arrived in Burgas to participate in the final round of the 21st National Olympiad in Information Technologies – NOIT. It is hosted by the Professional High School of Computer Programming and Innovation. Tonight, the forum was officially opened in the Black Sea Hall of the International Congress Center.

“Be inspired and brave! Let your creative imagination in the next two days be complemented by the digital skills you have already built to best argue and defend the projects you have created. Have fun and make new friends! Good luck to everyone!” shared the Deputy Mayor for Education, Health Care, Social Activities and Youth Policies Mihail Nenov and presented a congratulatory address from Mayor Dimitar Nikolov.

Greetings were sent by the head of the Regional Department of Education in Burgas, Petya Petrova. “This bouquet of talents here in the hall knows no bounds. I thank all the students, but also their teachers, who are building these young talents”.

A total of 42 students from Burgas reached the final round of the Olympiad. With the most Burgas projects ranked in the final – 11 are the students of PPMG “Acad. Nikola Obreshkov”, followed by OU “Alexander Georgiev – Kodjakafaliyata” with 6, PGKPI – 5 and PGEE “Konstantin Fotinov” – 1.

“I am especially pleased to be in Burgas today, where I have many friends among teachers in schools and universities. It is not so important whether you will be second or third, the important thing is that you are here and you will have many new friendships that will last you a lifetime”, said Prof. Dr. Krasen Stefanov – Chairman of the National Jury for evaluating the Olympiad .

Dimitrina Todorova also sent her greetings – “We are glad that the Olympics are in our city for the first time. Tomorrow, you will compete in the place where our technology community thrives – at the Vocational High School of Computer Programming and Innovation.”

The opening began with an acrobatic performance by students from Episcop Konstantin Preslavski High School, and the musical atmosphere of the evening was provided by students from NUMSI “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” and Nia Stoyanova from vocal ensemble “Fortissimo” with conductor Milena Dobreva.

The opening of the National Information Technology Olympiad was also attended by Ralitsa Voinova – representative of the Ministry of Education and Science, Prof. Dr. Radostin Dolchinkov – Dean of the Center for Informatics and Technical Sciences at BSU, Assoc. Dr. Kamen Seimenliyski – Deputy. -dean dean of the Center for Informatics and Technical Sciences at BSU and Dimitrinka Stoyanova – expert in mathematical sciences at RUO-Burgas.

The test and defense of the projects will be on April 27 at the Professional High School of Computer Programming and Innovation. All ranked participants will compete in 7 disciplines and 3 age groups. The final round includes two stages – test and project defense. The overall rating is obtained after summing up the ratings from the two stages, and the ratings are set by a National Jury, which also prepares the final ranking. The next day, April 28, the results will be announced at 10:00 a.m. in the “Sea Casino” Cultural Center.

The National Information Technology Olympiad is organized by the Ministry of Education and Science with the support of the Regional Department of Education-Burgas, Burgas Municipality and the Professional High School of Computer Programming and Innovation.
