Dissatisfaction in Vidin’s “Novi Pat” neighborhood due to relocated polling stations. According to the order of the mayor of the municipality, there will be no polling stations in the upcoming elections on June 9. The reason is the upcoming renovation of the school where they were housed until now. Attempts to manipulate the vote will also be avoided, the municipality says.

Eight polling stations, which until now were housed in the school in Nov Pat, have been moved outside the district. According to the people there, their rights have been violated.

Ivan Iliev: “Here, at this moment, there are still at least 4-5 thousand more people… These people must vote. How will that happen if they are not given the opportunity?’

Sashko Simeonov: “The neighborhood is big. The sections must be opened so that voting can take place.”

The reason for the relocation of the sections is a contract concluded for the repair of the sanitary units in the school, explained the municipality. But the other motive for moving the sections is the problems here in previous elections, which BNT showed you back then.

Emilian Enchev, secretary of the municipality of Vidin: “There was entry into the sections during the counting of ballots. There were fights. So, coupled with ongoing renovations, these are additional factors for us to motivate us to move the sections.”

For New Path voters, polling places have been designated near the neighborhood, but the decision is unacceptable to the people.

Boris Toshkov, “Nov Pat” district: “There are people where they are, right? Old people can’t walk, and our cars come and take them and take them there to vote. He has to take a taxi to go vote. It won’t do. That people will not vote.”

Because of the relocated polling stations, they will protest. They say they are ready for civil disobedience.
