Hugh Grant: Next Bridget Jones movie will be a ‘movie bomb’

--

Hugh Grant is back in the Bridget Jones storyline.

The 63-year-old actor will reprise his role as Daniel Cleaver in the upcoming sequel to the Bridget Jones series and was very impressed when he received the script.

Hugh, who did not appear in the third film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, told Entertainment Tonight: “I’ll tell you what I think: the script for the fourth Bridget is the best of all the others. And actually one of the the best scripts I’ve read in a long time.”

The film will show Renee Zellweger’s Bridget adjusting to life as a single mother after the death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and Hugh was impressed by the depth of emotion he found in the script.

He said: “At the heart of it is trying to bring up two kids on your own, and then it’s all mixed up with the comedy of Bridget Jones, so it’s very sad but also very funny. I literally cried for her.”

The British star was not expecting either the project or the return of his character – who was presumed dead in a plane crash in the third film, until a newspaper headline at the end of the film revealed that he had been found alive.

He said: “It just came out of the blue, you know Helen (Fielding) is writing another book. I hope we’re not too old. I don’t act much now, I only have a few scenes”. /BGNES
