Several people were injured during filming of the new Amazon MGM Studios movie “The Pickup” starring Eddie Murphy.

The incident happened on Saturday. The crew was shooting an action scene that went “awry” and ended with a collision between a car and a truck, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Tuesday. The team’s injuries ranged from bruises to broken bones.

Two of the injured were hospitalized in Atlanta, Georgia, and one was released shortly afterward.

“Unfortunately, the sequence of the stunts did not go according to plan and as a result several people from the team were injured,” the studio reports, adding that the case is yet to be clarified.

They are categorical that all safety rules are observed during the photos.

The AP cites a source in the film crew who describes what happened as a “completely accidental incident”. According to him, the filming of the scene did not involve any complicated or dangerous stunts.

The International Alliance of Camera Workers has launched its own investigation into the case.

The Tim Story-directed film The Pickup began filming in February in Atlanta, Georgia. None of the film’s stars, including Murphy, Eva Longoria, Kiki Palmer and Pete Davidson, were on set when the collision occurred.
