Inspired by the popular 1980s TV series of the same name, The Stuntman follows Colt Sievers (Ryan Gosling), a battle-scarred stuntman who, a year after retiring from the business to focus on both his physical and mental health, is called back into service when the star of a big-budget movie—directed by his former flame Jodi Moreno (Emily Blunt)—disappears without a trace.
While the production’s ruthless producer (Hannah Waddingham) does his best to keep star Tom Ryder’s (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) disappearance a secret from the studio and the media, Colt pulls off the film’s most spectacular and dangerous stunts, trying (with limited success) to win back Jody’s favor.
But as the mystery surrounding the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself entangled in a sinister criminal conspiracy that will push him to the brink of a fall more dangerous than any stunt. What could possibly go wrong?
The stunt is the work of former stuntman David Leitch, director of action hits John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, and stars irresistible stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. David Leitch shares: With The Stuntman I pay homage to my roots as a stuntman. We wanted to create action that was true to the spirit of the stunt community by incorporating techniques that had become a lost art. The car flip is a classic stunt and was a must for this production. And since we were making a movie honoring the work of stuntmen, we didn’t just want to pull off a flip, we set out to break records. Logan pulled it off flawlessly and demonstrated why he stands out in the stunt community.
