He also told defense officials that Russia had “dispelled the myth of the superiority of Western weapons” and that its forces had won the initiative on the front.

He noted the fact that Washington is ready to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth nearly $61 billion after a vote in the House of Representatives on Saturday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kiev will soon receive more ATACMS long-range missile systems as part of the package. US officials specify that the aid will also include supplies of ammunition and interceptors for air defense systems.

“In proportion to the threats from the US and its allies, we will continue to improve the composition and structure of the armed forces and increase the production of the most popular weapons and military equipment,” Shoigu noted, adding: “We will increase the intensity of attacks on logistics centers and Western weapons storage bases”.

Shoigu confirmed that Russia had captured the villages of Pervomaiskoye, Bogdanovka and Novomykhailovka this month.

Yesterday, a Ukrainian commander denied the fall of the latter, saying his troops held 15-20% of the village.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Russian marines involved in the operation to recapture Novomykhailovka captured Western-made weapons such as Swedish grenade launchers, American Javelin anti-tank missiles and NATO electronic warfare systems.
