Dutchman Arne Slott is the third coach to take the place of the No. 1 favorite to succeed Jurgen Klopp in the new season.

Initially, the Merseysiders looked around at Xabi Alonso, who decided to stay at Bayer, and yesterday it became clear that things will not work out with the other favorite – the Portuguese Ruben Amorim.

Thus, the name of Arne Slot appeared on the horizon, who is the current coach of the Dutch giant Feyenoord.

The 45-year-old Slott, who as a footballer wanders between the first and second levels of Dutch football, took up coaching in 2016, when he led the team of Cambur.

Several seasons followed as an assistant in AZ, before Slott stood at the head of the team and, contrary to all logic, became a champion. The team he led shared the top of the Eredivisie standings with Ajax before the pandemic interrupted the championship and then the authorities made the decision that there would be no Dutch champion for 2020.

In 2021, Arne Slott took over Feyenoord and at the end of the season played in the Conference League final, which the giants from Rotterdam lost to Mourinho’s Roma.

A year ago, Slott’s Feyenoord became the champion of the Netherlands, and this season also lifted the Cup – three seasons with two trebles and one European final.

In the summer, Arne Slott was once again linked with the Premier League. Then it was about the post at the head of Tottenham, but he himself categorically stated that at the moment he has no interest in such a move.

However, his words are: “I have always said that the Premier League is the best championship. The logical next step in my career will be abroad, and I have my sights set on England.”

At the helm of AZ and Feyenoord, Slott gained fame as a coach who practiced an offensive and attractive style of play, and it was no coincidence that his name was linked with European giants such as Barcelona and Bayern.
