Mohammed bin Sulayem’s son, Saif, was killed in a car accident. This became clear after the FIA confirmed the sad news of the death of the son of the current president of the federation.
Saif bin Sulayem lost his life in a traffic accident in Dubai. In confirming the news, the FIA added that the president of the organization had asked to keep his private life out of the public eye. Therefore, neither he nor the federation will make any statement on this matter
Like his father, Saif Bin Sulayem was also a racing driver. From an early age, he showed great interest in cars and motor sports and automobiles. In 2016-2017 he competed in Formula 4 UAE and faced current F1 drivers Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Logan Sargent (Williams).
Saif bin Sulaim has recorded several top 10 finishes at the Yas Marina Circuit. Subsequently, he never pursued his racing ambitions at the international level.
Mohammed bin Sulayem was elected president of the FIA in December 2021. The former rally driver succeeded Jean Todt in this post. He has since helped restructure the organization. A month ago it became clear that he would retire from any practical involvement in F1 this season. The FIA president’s decision came after the conflict with F1 management and Liberty Media in recent months. However, he will continue to attend championship races.
Last week, Bin Sulayem attended the 2023 season opener in Bahrain alongside the Kingdom’s Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He is also a regular guest and other competition under the umbrella of the FIA. This includes Formula E, World Rally Championship (WRC), World Rally Raid Championship (W2RC) and others.
