The young star of Bulgarian chess Nurgyul Salimova finished in seventh place in the final standings of The tournament of contenders in Toronto. Our representative collected an asset of 5.5 points. The Ukrainian Anna Muzychuk also finished with that number, but she did not achieve a single victory in the race and remained in eighth position.
Nurgyul Salimova deserved 19,250 euros
The “shining rose” of her native sport gained invaluable experience and won the respect of her opponents with several impressive games. In addition, she earned €19,250 in prize money, as FIDE gives €1,750 for every 0.5 point won by female competitors.

Nurgyul Salimova started with the lowest ELO of the participants – 2432, and with the results achieved in Toronto she deserved an increase of 3.6 points, so her already official ELO when the rankings are updated next month will be at least 2435.6.
How much will the winner take home?
Contenders Tournament winner Tan Zhongyi increases her ELO by 19 points to 2,540. The Chinese will take home a total of €55,500 – 31,500 from the 9 points on her account and an additional 24,000 due to the leader. She will argue for the world title of her compatriot Zhu Wenjun (2559 ELO).
