The main attraction of today’s training program in Madrid was definitely the joint activity of Grigor Dimitrov and Daniil Medvedev. Spectator interest was quite high, as there were dozens of spectators in the stands who came to see the two representatives of the Top 10 live.
Although only in training, the first rockets of Bulgaria and Russia spared no effort in the games. In one of the most interesting moments of the activity, which lasted about an hour and a half, Dimitrov successfully sprinted for a short ball, subsequently “checking” Medvedev with an elegant shot, sending an unsaveable ball parallel to the net. This did not sit well with the world No. 4, who angrily threw his racket on the court.
Grigor Dimitrov will start his participation in Madrid directly from the second round, where he awaits Yanik Hanfman or Jakub Menšik. With a win, the world No. 10 will face Yoshihito Nishioka, Félix Auger-Aliassim or Adrian Mannarino, with Casper Ruud the most likely opponent for the eventual round of 16.
For his part, Medvedev starts against either Christopher O’Connell or Matteo Arnaldi, while his potential third-round opponents are Sebastian Korda, Max Purcell and Marcos Giron.
