Six football hooligans were banned from attending sports events in the country and abroad for 1 year and fined 1000 BGN each after the previous derby between Levski and CSKA, which was played a few weeks ago. This was revealed by the SDVR at a briefing before the upcoming match on Saturday.

Ivan Georgiev, chief inspector of the SDVR, said that 28 people were arrested at the time, of which 8 were for possession of drugs. “7 persons are minors and will receive the necessary sanctions. The rest of the files are in the Sofia District Court and we are waiting for decisions,” said Georgiev.

He also revealed details of how the pyrotechnic devices, which were found before the match by the police, were brought into the stadium.

“After reviewing the CCTV footage of Vasil Levski Stadium, it was established that on April 5 at 6:33 p.m., 4 persons undisturbed entered through the 26th entrance of the stadium, approached the sports facility, set the pyrotechnics and also undisturbed exited. This is a serious lapse in stadium security. We now have assurances from the stadium that this will not happen. We have also ensured a continuous police presence around the stadium as a prevention for such actions,” the SDVR also stated.
